September 14, 2014 – January 4, 2015, Whatcom Museum, Bellingham, WA
In celebrating 60 years of contributions to the Northwest’s rich cultural landscape, Reaching Beyond celebrates the range of craft -across time, media, methods and borders.
I am honored and humbled to be one of the 90 artists chosen to represent this vibrant organization in its 60th anniversary show.
July 31-Aug 13, 2014, Shaw Jewelry, Northeast Harbor, ME
Mostly linked necklaces and bracelets, but an eye-popping variety of materials and ideas of sequential links. This gang of artists makes sensuous, flexible jewelry that drapes and flows.
KATE FURMAN, JULIA LOWTHER, CATHARINE MERKEL, MONIQUE RANCOURT, BIBA SCHUTZ
Sam Shaw, the owner of this cool gallery, invited me to be a part of this show, and I was delighted to accept. So I’m coast-to-coast this summer, with a show on the coast of Maine and a show on the coast of Washington at the SAME TIME! Love it :).
Jul 12 – Aug 30, 2014, The Art Stop, Tacoma, WA
“One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art”…. Oscar Wilde
Artists of Northwest Designer Craftsmen were asked to create artwork that speaks to any aspect of body adornment. Seventeen artists, working in a variety of mediums, took the challenge. Hosted by The Art Stop gallery of Tacoma, WA.
NanzAalund, Candyce Anderson, Candace Bearslee, DanielleBodine, Virginia Causey, Lynn Di Nino, BobbiGoodboy, Joan Hammond, Lois Harbaugh, Trudee Hill, Julia Lowther, Gale Lurie, Ron Pascho, Inge Roberts, Cynthia Toops, Larkin Van Horn, and Barbara Walker.
The Art Stop has already done me proud! I couldn’t go to the show opening, since I was teaching in Red Deer, but by the time I got home a week later they had already sold a necklace, bless them :). Meanwhile, I’m also delighted about this show because it includes my first chastity belt “Pathological Purity”, which hasn’t been shown publicly since its inaugural show back in 2009.
